White (pears, radishes, garlic, white mushrooms, soy, rice)

White foods contain antioxidants that help decreasing blood pressure and cholesterol. They are an extremely effective immunostimulating and help strengthening the body's natural defenses. Allicin contained in garlic is highly beneficial regulating the  blood pressure, insulin levels and triglycerides.

Blue / purple (black beans, seaweed, figs, eggplant, plums, mushrooms)

All these foods contain high levels of antioxidants such as resveratrol and anthocyanins. Anthocyanins protect us against liver diseases, reduces blood pressure and fights against premature aging while resveratrol may reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, and improves the memory.

Berries such as blueberries and blackberries contain flavonoids that keep blood vessels healthy and decrease the risk of heart disease. Also, mushrooms can help to fight against bone cancer and leukaemia.

Yellow/Orange (bananas, lemons, corn, peppers, pineapple, pumpkin, carrots, oranges)

These foods have beta-carotene, which boosts the immune system and protects the body. Also plays an important role in protecting eyesight and skin, reduce inflammation caused by arthritis and prevent cancer. Same role have the folic acid and vitamin C in citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons.

Green (spinach, cucumbers, broccoli, olive oil, cabbage, green beans, peas, apples, avocado)

Green pigment from fruits and vegetables is represented by chlorophyll, which improves oxygenation, circulation and help detoxify the body. Green foods are rich in vitamin K, iron, potassium, calcium and carotenoids such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which are important in preventing blindness, especially in older people.

Red (beets, nectarines, cherries, strawberries, raspberries)

Pigments that give the red food color contain flavonoid compounds that fight against free radicals and prevent cell damage. Besides being rich in vitamins A and C ,red foods contain the most lycopene and anthocyanins, two antioxidants that protect the skin from sunburn effects, reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and prevent several types of cancer.
